When God Speaks To You Make Sure You Act On What You Hear #WFJ

January 29, 2011 by Lynne Lee

When God is speaking to you do you pay attention and act on what you hear quickly?

Most people wait for God to speak to them again or in a number of different ways before taking action, but in the meantime they have lost time.

God wants you to recognise His voice and act on what you hear when He asks you to do something.

God is looking for obedient followers. If you don’t act on what you hear or wait for confirmation when it’s clear that God has already spoken then you are actually being disobedient…stop and think about that for a moment.

If God speaks to you and you don’t recognize His voice or if you wait for Him to tell you several times, you may miss an opportunity to be blessed or to bless someone else.

Fortunately, God is very gracious and He often gives you further opportunities. But if you repeatedly ignore His voice or fail to recognise that He’s speaking to you,  He may well ask somebody else to do what He wanted you to do.

Are you missing out on opportunities? Are other people missing out on blessings because you aren’t recognising when God is speaking or acting on the “inklings” that suddenly come?

A sudden thought to give someone flowers might seem like nothing important to you, but it might be really important. It might be just what they need to help them to believe that God really cares. When you respond to that spontaneous thought you are saying, “I’m willing to be Your hands and feet.”

Deciding to respond to the sudden thought that comes to do something so simple and so small that anyone could do it, can make the world of difference to somebody.

It’s fun recognising the voice of your Father, responding right away and seeing the blessing that comes.

Ask the Lord:

“LORD, what is one thing you want me to do right now?”

PRAYER

Father, help me to listen to Your voice, trust it’s really You speaking to me, and then act in faith. Help me to be willing to make mistakes as I embark on this journey of hearing Your voice and acting on what I hear, knowing that I’ll get it right more often as I step out and have the courage to believe and act.

Hi Lynne, Thanks for sharing this message. It’s seems so simple, yet it’s so important. That’s why learning to recognize God speaking is critical to obeying God. Blessings, Joseph

aargh! Today is Saturday and all day Friday, I had a thought to send flowers to my aunt who has been in poor health. I rationalized the thought away–with many different excuses of why it was a bad idea. About an hour ago, I received an email about her day on Friday and what a medical nightmare it was! Then I stumbled on this site, and it even says “A sudden thought to give someone flowers might seem like nothing important to you, but it might be really important. It might be just what they need to help them to believe that God really cares.”. Big sigh…Point taken. I need to listen AND ACT! I’m going to send them on Monday!

It’s so easy to dismiss the small seemingly insignificant thoughts that come as nothing important isn’t it. I’m sure your aunt will be delighted to receive the flowers on Monday :)and I’m sure you’ll take more notice next time.

I like this article. I need someone to speak to about the things going on in my life concerning God and what he says to me…I would love some insight with someone.

I would be happy to speak with you but I hope you understand that I would need to charge for my time as I have many such requests. If this is something you would like to arrange, leave me a message and I’ll get back to you.
