Encourage Yourself In God – Speak Words That Build Courage
September 21, 2011 by Lynne Lee
When Jesus faced difficulties and temptations, he responded with God’s Word. The spoken Word of God is living and active. When you speak God’s word it’s like using a sword. Jesus depended on God and His Word when He faced challenges, so can you. Encourage yourself in God and take strength from these courage building words. Don’t just read them, speak them out aloud.
Bible Verses That Build Courage and Encourage Hope
The LORD is my light and my salvation; Who shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of who shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? Psalm 56:3-4
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you … 1 Chronicles 28:20
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Matthew 10:26
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. 2 Corinthians 4:7-11
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5-6
